BAL (Honey) by Semih Kaplanoglu, produced by Bettina Brokemper (Heimatfilm, DE) received the Berlinale GOLDEN BEAR! The film also received the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury.

Let’s not forget IF I WANT TO WHISTLE I WHISTLE by Florin Serban, a project developped at the ACE Workshop and produced by Daniel Mitulescu (Strada Film, RO) which was awarded the JURY GRAND PRIX-SILVER BEAR and the ALFRED BAUER PRIZE!

And A BRAND NEW LIFE by Ounie Leconte, produced by Laurent Lavolé (Gloria Films, FR) which received the SPECIAL MENTION of the Generation KPlus Jury.

After its selection at the International Critic’s Week in Cannes 2009, “ORDINARY PEOPLE” by Vladimir Perisic, produced by Anthony Doncque, Gilles Sacuto and the ACE producer Miléna Poylo (TS Productions, FR) received 3  awards at the Sarajevo International Film Festival: the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Feature Film, the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Actor (Relja Popovic), and the FIPRESCI Prize!

And “IF I WANT TO WHISTLE I WHISTLE” by Florin Serban, a project developped at the ACE 17 Workshop by Daniel Mitulescu (Strada Film, RO), received the Cinelink Work in Progress Award.

MANY PRIZES FOR ACE PRODUCERS’ FILMS IN LOCARNO ‘09!

NOTHING PERSONAL by Urszula Antoniak, co-produced by Macdara Kelleher (Fastnet Films, IE) was awarded the Leopard for Best Actress, the Leopard for the Best First Feature, the 1st Prize of the Youth Jury, the FIPRESCI Prize, the CICAE Prize and received a Special Mention of the Eucumenical Jury!

AKADIMIA PLATONOS by Filippos Tsitos, co-produced by Thanassis Karathanos (Twenty Twenty Vision, DE) was awarded the Leopard for Best Actor, the 3rd Prize of the Youth Jury and the Prize of the Eucumenical Jury!

And last but not least GIULIAS VERSCHWINDEN by Christoph Schaub, produced by Marcel Hoehn (T&C Film, CH) received the Prix du Public UBS!

SACD PRIZE FOR “HOME” BY URSULA MEÏER

"HOME"

Ursula Meïer, director of HOME, produced by the two ACE producers Elena Tatti (Box Productions, CH) and Denis Delcampe (Need Productions, BE) was awarded the 2009 SACD Prize (Society of  Dramatic Authors and Comoposers) for New Cinema Talent.

THE CLASS by Laurent Cantet produced by Carole Scotta (Haut et Court / ACE producer) & Caroline Benjo was awarded the Best Adaptation Prize. Released in France on September 24th, the film has already made over 1.5 million admissions!

Congratulations to Roman Paul and Gerhard Meixner (Razor Film Produktion, D) co-producers of WALTZ WITH BASHIR by Ari Folman, which was awarded the following prizes at the Israeli Film Academy Awards Ceremony:

Best Film, Best Director, Best Script, Best Editing, Best Sound Design and Best Art Direction !

Therefore WALTZ WITH BASHIR  will represent Israel at the submissions for the 2009 Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.

“The Counterfeiters”: for the first time, a film developed at the ACE workshop was awarded the best foreign language film prize at the 2008 Academy Awards. Thanks to our Austrian member, Josef Aichholzer!

2008 got off to an incredible start for ACE producers, three of them being awarded an OSCAR®:
- Best Live Action Short Film Prize for Antoine Rein (Karé Productions / Delante Films, F) with LE MOZART DES PICKPOCKETS by Philippe Pollet-Villard,

- Achievement in Music written for motion picture (Original Song) for Martina Niland (Samson Films, IE) with ONCE by John Carney,

- and last but not least Best Foreign Language Film prize for Josef Aichholzer (Aichholzer Filmproduktion, AT) with his ACE project developed at the 2004 Workshop, THE COUNTERFEITERS by Stefan Ruzowitzky.
