The 8th edition of les Arcs European Film Festival will take place from the 10th to 17th December 2016 in Bourg-Saint-Maurice/ Les Arcs (Savoie).  ACE is pleased to announce that among the official selections, 18 films have been produced or co-produced by ACE members. 3 projects selected at the Arc 1950 Coproduction Village and 5 works-in-progress are run by ACE producers. Congrats to all of our selected members!

16 NEW PRODUCERS JOIN THE ACE NETWORK

CO-PRODUCTION VILLAGE AT THE ARCS EUROPEAN FILM FESTIVAL: QUEBEC FOCUS IN 2016

Les Arcs European Film Festival, a major event for promotion, development and distribution of European cinema, has just launched its call for projects for its annual co-production platform, the Co-production Village. This year, the Co-Production Village will have a focus on Québec. The Co-production Village will host 20 European project representatives, who will have the chance to meet potential partners among 350 industry professionals, including co-producers, sales agents, distributors, financiers, and so on. Les Arcs European Film Festival will take place from the 10th to the 17th of December 2016 and the Co-production Village from the 10th to the 13th of December 2016.

Les Arcs Coproduction Village includes two main events:

  • A selection of 20 European projects in development seeking coproducers and/or financiers
  • Deadline to submit a project - 7th October 2016. Submit your application here

  • A work-in-progress session, screening excerpts of 5-10 minutes from 15 European films in post-production

    PREFERENTIAL RATES FOR ACE PRODUCERS

    Les Arcs European Film Festival offers preferential rates to 2 ACE producers. The producers selected will benefit from an all-inclusive pack for 150 EUR (excl. tax).
    To apply, please send a cover letter including a presentation of your company and recent works, your involvement in the European film industry through past co-productions and/or participation to other co-production markets, and your motivation for attending Les Arcs Coproduction Village 2016 to village-copro@lesarcs-filmfest.com with emmanuelledory@ace-producers.com in copy.
    Applications must be sent before October 31st.

    DIGITAL PRODUCTION CHALLENGE II 2016

    The 8th session of the European workshop on digital production workflows is a multi-disciplinary initiative for 25 film professionals. It is open to all film professionals from all countries, including filmmakers, cinematographers, with a priority given to producers, production managers and post-production supervisors.

    This upcoming edition run in English will take place in Lisbon, Portugal,  from 30 November to 3 December 2016.

    How to be digitally aware and benefit from new developments in post-production?
    · become acquainted with the main post-production workflows available in the European market
    · best position the production of your feature or documentary films for the digital post-production workflow
    · communicate and optimize the division of tasks between the many collaborators involved, from the director to the many post-production providers
    · understand the importance of archiving, the advantages and disadvantages of digital distribution and be prepared for tomorrow’s challenges and opportunities.
    …thanks to a mix of technical focuses, round tables, discussions on participants’ projects and case studies presented by European experts (already confirmed: “The Wave” with the Norwegian cinematographer John Christian Rosenlund as the main speaker).

    Participation fee for 3,5 days (including meals):

    350 euros for full board accommodation (excluding travel). Some scholarships are available.
    150 euros excluding accommodation & travel.

    Congratulations to our ACE producers  for the success of their films at Sarajevo!

    ALBÜM  by Mehmet Can Mertoglu, co -produced by Cédomir Kolar (ACE, France),  was awarded the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Feature Film.

    GODLESS by Ralitza Petrova, produced by Eva Jakobsen (ACE, Denmark) won the Special Jury prize and Best Actress for the performance of lead actress Irena Ivanova.

    GODLESS by Ralitza Petrova, produced by Eva Jakobsen (ACE, Denmark) won both the prestigious Pardo d’Oro as well as Best Actress.

    IT’S TIME TO SUBMIT A PROJECT TO THE RCF IN MONTREAL

    The 13th RCF French language co-production forum will take place in Montréal for the first time from the 8th to 11th of November 2016. During these four days, around 20 producers of French-language fiction features from French-speaking regions in Europe, Canada and Africa will present their project as a video pitch to accredited professionals.

    Don’t miss the ACE networking cocktail at the Paris Co-production Village 2016! The cocktail will take place on Thursday 9th June at 6pm, after a mini-workshop for the international project holders.

    In 2016, Paris Co-Production Village will celebrate the Colombian film industry with 3 Colombian projects selected out of the 15 projects. Congratulations to ACE member Daniel Garcia (Colombia) for the selection of THE TAILOR by Cesar Heredia.

    A big thanks to our hosts the Norwegian Film Institute, the Western Norway Film Commission and the town of Bergen in Hordaland county, and also to our guests for the ACE Networking Tables, the representatives of the Norwegian regional film commissions. You have been great!

     

    6 NEW NON-EU ACE MEMBERS

    6 new producers from 5 non-EU countries (Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Mexico and Uganda) have been selected to participate in the eighth edition of the ACE Mundus programme. They are:

    We are very happy to say that African independent cinema will be represented in our network for the first time, with a producer based in Kampala, Uganda: Nathan Magoola.

    Starting with a 8-day workshop in Paris, France, and Bergen, Norway, from the 4th to the 10th of April, the Mundus 8 programme will run from early April until the end of December 2016. These 6 producers will automatically join the existing ACE Network of more than 230 producers from 46 countries.

    4 ACE FILMS AT THE OSCARS

    oscar-ace Congratulations to Cristina Gallego (ACE Mundus 4, Colombia) producer of Embrace of the Serpent by Ciro Guerra, developed at the ACE workshop, and to Gabor Sipos (ACE 19,  Hungary) producer of Son of Saul by László Nemes, both nominated at the Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film.

    Congratulations also to Ed Guiney (ACE 5, Ireland) for the nomination of his film Room by  Lenny Abrahamson in FOUR CATEGORIES ! Best film, best screenplay, best actress and best director.

    A fourth ACE film has also been nominated in the category ‘Best Short Film’: Ave Maria by Basil Khalil co-produced by Helge Albers (ACE 17, Germany). Well done, Helge!

    GOLDEN GLOBE WINS FOR ACE FILMS

    ACE is thrilled to announce the oustanding performances of its members at the Golden Globes award ceremony !

    Room, directed by Lenny Abrahamson and produced by Ed Guiney (ACE 5, IE) was nominated in 3 categories (Best Actress, Best Film and Best Director ) and Brie Larson was awarded Best Actress. Well done Ed!

    Son of Saul, directed by Laszlo Nemes and produced by Gábor Sipos, ACE 19 (HU), won the Golden Globes category ‘Best Foreign Language Film.’ This was also the first Golden Globes win for Hungary. Congratulations, Gábor!

    ACE CO-PRODUCTION LAB IN HONG KONG 2016 - CALL FOR ENTRIES

    In March 2016, ACE will hold the 5th ACE CO-PRODUCTION LAB IN HONG KONG, in collaboration with the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) and FILMART, thanks to the support of Creative Europe.

    The Co-production Lab in Hong Kong is an exclusive 4-day project-based workshop that will gather a group of European & Chinese professionals in Hong Kong from the 14th to 17th of March 2016.
    The Lab aims to develop the opportunities for artistic and financial cooperation between a selected group of 5 European producers and 5 producers from Greater China with a team of influential industry professionals and key decision makers.

    When: during FILMART, 14- 17 March 2016
    For whom: experienced independent producers with a project underway for co-production between the EU and China;
    Programme: case studies, marketplace presentations, pitching sessions, 1-to-1 meetings and networking events.

    ACE NETWORK AT LES ARCS 2015

    The 7th edition of les Arcs European Film Festival will take place from the 12th to 19th December 2015 in Bourg-Saint-Maurice/ Les Arcs (Savoie).  ACE is pleased to announce that among the official selections, 16 films have been produced or co-produced by ACE members. At the Arc 1950 Coproduction Village, 5 projects and 5 works-in-progress are run by ACE producers, one of which is currently in development at the ACE 25 workshop. Congrats to all of our selected members!

    APPLYING TO SERIES MANIA PARIS?

    The 4th series Mania European Co-production Forum will take place from April the 19th-21st 2016 at the Forum des Images in Paris, France.
    The professional section of the Series Mania Festival, the Co-production Forum, is the only pitching forum in Europe exclusively dedicated to TV Series projects. 15 TV series projects in development  will be selected to be pitched to a panel of 300 potential financial partners. The pitching sessions will be followed by one-to-one meetings.

    MEET ACE AT THE RCF 2015

    The 12th RCF French language co-production forum will take place in Paris on the 18th, 19th and 20th of November 2015. During these three days, around 20 producers of French-language fiction features from French-speaking regions in Europe, Canada and Africa will present their project as a video pitch to accredited professionals. The forum will provide opportunities for a friendly exchange of ideas, hosting co-production panels as well as holding one-on-one meetings between project-holders and international sales representatives, distributors and producers.

    GAYLE GRIFFITHS PASSES AWAY

    We are deeply sad to learn of the passing of our talented friend Gayle, who was a very active member of the ACE Network since she joined in 2004. This is a great loss for the British film industry and for ACE. Our thoughts are with her family and friends. Read Screen’s obituary  here.

    16 NEW PRODUCERS ARE JOINING THE ACE NETWORK

    ACE 25 Producers

    The new members for the 25th ACE session have just been selected! From October 2015, 16 producers from 15 European countries will participate in the training programme and are officially joining the ACE Network of more than 200 producers.

    We are particularly proud both of the fact that women producers are very well-represented this year, making up ten out of the 16 of our new friends, and additionally of the record number of countries represented.
