MIA is widely recognised as an effective market platform where the international industry finds real opportunities for partnering and financing projects in development.

The MIA Co-production Market & Pitching Forum 2017 consists of:

1) Dedicated Pitching sessions designed to find the right financial partners through co-production deals or presale agreements.

2) Pre-scheduled meetings with industry professionals set for the Co-Production Market participants, according to interest and upon request.

The projects for each specific session are chosen by selected Key Industry Professionals with the goal to find the next big content in Cinema, Drama Series and Doc&Factual. The Key Industry Members entitled to define the selection will be announced by July for each of the three segments. Projects’ selection is announced by September 2017.

During MIA, the selected projects are presented by their Producers to an audience of potential financial partners, including broadcasters, producers, distributors, private and public funds, in the specific Pitching sessions and one-to-one pre-scheduled meetings with industry professionals, according to each section’s specific needs and format.

MIA CINEMA : Devoted to about 15 international long feature film (fiction or documentary) co-production projects in development stage. Eligible projects will be competing for the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award of 20.000 euros.

Produced by Swedish ACE producer Erik Hemmendorff and co-produced by Danish ACE producer Katja Adomeit, “The Square” took the top prize at the closing ceremony of the 70th Cannes Film Festival. The jury, headed by this year’s president Pedro Almodóvar, awarded director Ruben Östlund the Palme d’Or for his art-world satire, which the jury commended for its blackly comedic take on political correctness.

Producer Erik Hemmendorff came through the ACE 21 workshops with Östlund’s last film “Force Majeure” which won the Jury Prize at Un Certain Regard in Cannes in 2014. Katja Adomeit, who co-produced “Force Majeure” as well as the “The Square”, attended the ACE 24 workshops in 2014.
