ACE Producers (ACE) is Europe’s premier community of independent producers, dedicated to training and developing the entrepreneurial, collaborative, and adaptive skills needed in a rapidly evolving industry. The ACE Annual Programme is the centrepiece training, a series of high-level workshops on leadership, co-production, and business strategy, after which the 18 participating producers join the network. ACE also offers Specials in series, animation, and leadership, and the Springboard for emerging producers.

Since its founding in 1993, ACE Producers has cultivated a thriving community of hundreds of producers, with over 280 active members from more than 52 countries. Members collaborate year-round to share knowledge, discuss industry changes, and initiate partnerships at the ACE Annual reunion and industry events at major festivals and markets.

The organisation operates internationally and has developed a strong successful brand in providing top quality executive education. It is run by a core team of 6 employees from its headquarters in Amsterdam and is governed by a Board consisting of 16 international film professionals.

It is a testament to ACE’s success and a reflection of its producers’ creativity and dynamism that ACE members are consistently featured in the programmes of all major film festivals, as well as being frequent award-winners in Cannes, Berlin and Venice as well as at the Oscars (e.g. “Anatomy of a Fall”, “Poor Things” and “Triangle of Sadness”)

JOB DESCRIPTION – HEAD OF STUDIES

What will you do:

ACE Producers delivers high-quality executive training to producers and the ACE Network of producers.  Working to the Director, the Head of Studies will be responsible for the development and delivery of training programmes. In particular the Head of Studies will devise and implement the structure and content of the ACE Annual Programme, and oversee the delivery within budget of all training programmes and workshops, including ACE Specials and other programmes.  They will lead workshops and be responsible for producer development through workshops, being principal contact for the producers.

Duties include:

  • Be forward-looking and to seek continual progress of the Association
  • Actively research and develop content for existing workshops and keep up to date with the latest developments within the film, series and animation industries
  • Be the principal content person during the ACE Annual Programme and the ACE Annual Reunion
  • Maintain dialogue with the team to align the programmes with the logistical aspects of the workshops
  • Manage and oversee the recruitment and selection process of producers for different training programmes (ACE Annual Programme, ACE Specials and ACE Springboard Programme), including reading applications and interviewing candidates
  • Manage areas of ACE’s Annual Programme and ACE Network activities (online sessions, residential workshops and the ACE Annual Reunion)
  • Manage or, if appropriate, delegate and oversee the content of other training programmes and events organised by the Association (Specials, Springboard Programmes, Insight Sessions, and other online seminars) and those where the Association participates as a partner, co-organiser or special guest
  • Confidently present and run the programme during workshops and reunions, including leading group sessions and occasionally conducting interviews and moderating panels
  • Travel and attend ACE Producers’ Annual Programme workshops and events, including key festivals and other professional events
  • Research, choose, recruit and maintain good relations with topic specific consultants for sessions at the various workshops
  • Oversee any necessary follow-up for the projects of selected producers throughout the stages of their development, until either abandoned or put into production
  • Strengthen the ACE Network by actively communicating with its producers (online and at festivals/events) and as required, to give individual advice and whenever requested matchmake between network members
  • Maintain relationships with a wide variety of industry experts
  • When relevant and desired, design new workshops and other types of relevant events

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Essential

  • The role is based at the ACE office in Amsterdam, with a desired minimum of 3 days per week in the office
  • Eligible to work in The Netherlands or apply for work permit
  • Must be prepared to travel extensively in Europe (10-12 times + per year)
  • Strong understanding of European film industry and co-production based on wide experience
  • Strong understanding of the independent film producer’s voice and role
  • Broad network in the film industry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to demonstrate openminded eagerness to learn, including researching new topics for workshops
  • Open to new developments in the industry
  • Ability to demonstrate broad interest in film development
  • Ability to select upcoming producers and to put together complementary groups (including selecting of producers and workshop consultants)
  • Self-confident group leader, comfortable with public speaking and able to lead and unify diverse groups, including at workshops
  • Team player, open to input from participants, consultants and the ACE team
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Computer literate with clear understanding of Microsoft Office applications and ability to upskill in necessary technical areas
  • Clear understanding of ACE’s purpose and that the role (and organisation) is Selfless and therefore about serving the Association, its members and its aims

Desirable:

  • Ability to speak further European languages
  • Experience of delivering studies or training desirable, ideally including running a producer’s programme or workshop
  • Ability to demonstrate forward thinking and curiosity as well as empathy towards a wide group of participants
  • Knowledge of company and business development

 

Starting date: January 2026 TBD

Position: Full-time (40 hrs per week), employee under Dutch law

Salary: Minimum €4,250 to maximum €5,250 gross per month, depending on experience, plus 8% holiday pay and a company pension scheme.

Contract: for 1 year.  Renewable by mutual agreement.  1-month probation
